Conscious Closets Baby Goodies

October 7, 2015 Johanna Tropiano

My friend Lauren is due this December with her first baby, a sweet little girl, and I couldn't be more stoked. So I recently went on the hunt for some consciously made clothes for little ones and was couldn't believe all the goodies I found! I went to this cute shop in Long Beach called Shop Anneise (find them on IG at @shopanneise). They had so many adorable choices that are all conscious closet worthy and at good price points. So, as promised, I'm sharing pics of the goods with you along with the brands so you can find them yourself.

While talking with the shop owner, she mentioned that Etsy is the best place to find handmade ethical clothing for babies and toddlers, and each of these these items can be found there as well. I'm excited that this is the first of many baby goody blog posts to come.

The top is from Vicarious Clothing , knickers from Bondi Wear , and darling moccasins from Shop Glover Kids . I can't wait to see Lauren's little rocking this cool Cali outfit!

The theme of Lauren's baby room is greenery, air plants, and succulents. So how stinking adorable are these plush toy cacti from Shop Anneise!

I’m not going to lie. I’ve had a hard week. Don’t we all at times? To cope, I’ve been engrossing myself in scripture to help with depression and anxiety. I was so encouraged by this beautiful sentence from Psalms that I had to share with y’all. “God made my life complete when I placed all my pieces before him.” Wow. Hello Kintsugi! What a stunning reminder that God Loves us so much he longs to make our brokenness, pain, trauma, selfishness, ugliness, fears, etc. whole. It just requires the humbling act of laying our broken pieces down at his feet. For me, it must be a daily practice. The psalmist goes on to say, “Every day I review the ways he works...I feel put back together.” That’s my prayer tonight for you and for me. #soulcare #wemend #scripture #dailydevotion
Deep thanks to pastor @luck.kenny and @crossline_church for allowing us to share the first iteration of @themendproject’s curriculum on preventing Double Abuse in the church and therapeutic communities! We are grateful for the partnership. Shout out to the M3ND team @kelsiereeders, @valensingerwoman26, and @christy_krumm for your hard work in bringing our curriculum to life. Excited to be in a position to bring hope and restoration out of the brokenness. What a beautiful thing. #wemend #enddoubleabuse #heforshe #churchtoo #silenceisnotspiritual #metoo #survivor #courage #hope #endabuse #activist

So many happenings! @themendproject is welcoming our first ever social media and communications fellow to the team! Get ready for consistent and empowering content here, on Twitter, Pinterest, YouTube, and Facebook! Our curriculum is well under way to completion, and we are launching a survivors voice blog this summer. The stories we hear on a daily basis propels our work forward and we are excited to share them with you! There’s been so much building. But I’m learning that to really soar high, there’s gotta be a solid foundation in place. Otherwise launching and landing means crashing and burning. It’s time to take off....(Image from @scottthepainter) #enddoubleabuse #soar #wemend #MENDabuse #silenceisnotspiritual #metoo #churchtoo #survivor #heforshe #unwomen
The guys over at @apolis recently asked me to share what I keep in my bag on a daily basis, so here’s a lil peak into the things that keep me going: .
.
I love this bag. I think I have it in several versions and colors that I’ve collected over the years. It’s ethically made and can hold everything! .
.
.
First up is my @cleobella wallet. I’ve had it forever and it still looks and feels new. Plus it doubles as a perfect lil clutch. .
.
My @chloe glasses, cuz I gotta see y’all! .
.
I keep some kind of play toy in my bag these days cuz you know, mom stuff. And Lila needs to stay entertained. Right now my fave is this wooden camera like her daddy. .
.
My husband Bri got me hooked on .38 pens. They’re the best. .
.
@fentybeauty lip gloss to channel my inner Rihanna. .
.
Kintsugi necklaces made be friend to always remind me that true beauty lies in the brokenness I’ve overcome. .
.
@cultivatewhatmatters has been life changing for me this year! I carry it around like a Bible and it has enriched my life so much. .
.
And lastly, @themendproject Healing Model cards. Everywhere I go, I end up in conversation with someone who is either experiencing abuse of some kind personally, or they are witnessing it happen to a friend or family member. When it comes to knowing how to respond to those who are being harmed in a loving way, it can be daunting and paralyzing. So these cards are crucial in guiding each of us how to respond to each other with compassion. Following the model on this card can literally save someone’s life. .

Thanks for letting me share and check out the feature over at @apolis.
